I. Things to Consider When Purchasing an Aquarium:
1. Check the Location: Ensure the area where the aquarium will be placed has sufficient power supply, whether it's 220 volts or 110 volts.
2. Inspect the Floor: Determine the floor type (wood, concrete, or carpet).
3. Level the Base: Make sure the aquarium's base can be kept level.
4. Install an Extension Cord: Install an extension cord with five outlets.
5. Create a Buffer: Cut a 130cm x 60cm polystyrene board to place under the aquarium to prevent vibrations.
6. Clean the Aquarium: Clean the inside and outside of the aquarium. If using a 24-volt bottom heater, install it now, but be cautious as such heating devices can sometimes cause the bottom glass to crack (Dupla bottom heating cable).
7. Install Electronic Controllers: All electronic controllers should be installed near the aquarium's outlets, and all sensors should be securely fixed with vacuum suction cups.
8. Attach the Back Panel: Attach the decorative panel at the back of the aquarium.
9. Prepare the Substrate: Wash 70cm of sand and clean any decorations such as wood and rocks.
10. Install Filter Media: Place the filter media into the filter.
11. Connect the Tubing: Assemble the connecting pipes.
12. Install the Substrate Pump: Install the substrate pump, ensuring the suction tube is at least 5cm above the bottom board.
13. Set Up Lighting: Connect the lights to an automatic feeder or timer and set the desired times, for example, from 10 AM to 10 PM. Be careful not to exceed 10-12 hours and ensure the devices are operating correctly.
14. Mix Substrate and Fertilizer: Mix the bottom sand with fertilizer (Duplalit G), adding 1000 grams of fertilizer for every 20 liters of sand.
15. Lay the Fertilized Sand: Spread the mixed sand.
16. Add More Sand: Lay the remaining 50 liters of sand.
17. Arrange Decorations: Place decorations in the aquarium, leaving space for planting aquatic plants.
18. Fill with Water: Slowly fill the aquarium with lukewarm water, distributing the water evenly over the substrate.
19. Half-Fill the Aquarium: Fill the aquarium to half its depth.
II. Second Step
20. Plant Aquatic Plants: Follow examples for planting aquatic plants, removing any decayed leaves and trimming the roots to one-third their original length.
21. Fill and Fertilize: Fill the aquarium completely and remember to add fertilizer and water conditioners (Duplagan).
22. Install a CO2 Tester: Place a long-term CO2 tester in a visible location.
23. Connect a Bubble Counter: Connect a bubble counter to the CO2 injection system.
24. Install a Thermometer: Place a thermometer where it can be easily read.
25. Set the Thermostat: Set the automatic thermostat to 25-26 degrees Celsius.
26. Activate the Filter and Pump: Turn on the filter and submerged water pump.
27. Remove Plant Debris: Remove any leftover plant debris.
28. Clean the Glass: Carefully clean the inside of the aquarium glass.
29. Cover the Aquarium: Put on the aquarium cover.
30. Turn on the Lights: Switch on the lights.
31. Adjust Timers: Set the timers as needed.
32. Check Electronic Systems: Check all electronic control systems.
33. Record Installation and Measurements: Use an analysis manual to record the installation date and water quality measurements, which is crucial for determining when to replace fluorescent lights.
III. Third Step
35. Add Algae-Eating Fish: Introduce algae-eating fish (10 Siamese flying foxes (Epalzeorynchus siamensis), 6 Black mollies (Poecilia sphenops)), and do not feed these fish for two weeks to force them to eat algae.
IV. Fourth Step:
36. Introduce Other Fish: After two weeks, add other fish to the aquarium and begin feeding carefully.
V. Fifth Step:
37. Change and Monitor Aquatic Plants*: Replace some aquatic plants with species more sensitive to water quality changes and introduce fish that are also sensitive to water quality changes. Note: For every 1 cm of fish length, there should be 2 liters of water; do not exceed this amount when keeping fish.
